NUYE is a creation process for six acrobats that aims to explore the different aspects of couple/duo/partner relationship.
Our motivation to choose couples/partners/duos as the main focus of this creation comes from our relationship with the communal circus discipline that the artistic team of NUYE shares - partner acrobatics.
For hand to hand acrobats, couple dynamics become a part of our everyday life. As we create, we are always in contact with the other, and it is through this haptic relationship that we communicate very deeply in a non-verbal way, where we are constantly navigating the emotions and the physical state of our partner.
Talking about couple/duo/partner relationship a very direct way to tackle the theme of communication between people, and to appreciate the balance, confidence and compromises that are necessary to partake in such a shared journey.
In this historic moment, where society are witnessing alternatives to traditional structures in human relationships through reconsidering gender, identity, and notions of community, it seems coherent to us to share our points of view, by putting an emphasis on accepting the differences of others and respecting their particularities. For us, this provides an alternative to individualism, and the growing polarization of thinking that provokes a serious loss of communication and empathy.
